First Step Forward Crisis Counseling

First Step Forward Crisis Counselling is a Kelowna-based private counselling practice that specializes in working with individuals with crisis-based issues related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and suicide.

A sense of urgency and real progress are keys to overcoming crisis. For this very reason, I offer a completely FREE first counselling session - not a consultation about a counselling session - to make it easier for people to take that first step towards the life and dreams they desire NOW!

Building Life Beyond Crisis

Crisis is a disruptive and profoundly challenging force in our lives. But as stressful and demanding as it is, crisis is also a rather universal and almost common life event. Because of this, you might be asking yourself, “Am I in crisis?”

To see, ask yourself if the following statements apply to what you are going through right now:

  • I am dealing with the effects of a challenging event (this could be an external event, such as a divorce, or an internal event, such as feeling depressed or having suicidal thoughts).
  • The way that I see this event is causing me to feel upset and/or distressed.
  • My coping methods do not work well or at all since this event occurred.
  • All of this has led to a lower level of functioning in one or more areas of my life (school, work, relationships, etc.).

If all of these statements describe what you are going through currently, then what you are dealing with is a crisis (Kanel, 2013)
